Ringing in the Rain is all about celebrating creativity and community.

Life’s Beautiful Journey Art Gallery is proud to announce Ringing in the Rain, a community exhibit that features a diverse collection of works from local artists celebrating creativity and community connection in Bremerton, WA.  By transforming umbrellas into art, we invite artists and visitors alike to see beauty in unexpected places.

Gallery owner Linley B. Logan has also curated a selection of three-dimensional pieces, including several new works debuting for the first time. Everyone is invited to attend the opening night and meet the artists during Bremerton’s First Friday Art Walk.

RINGING IN THE RAIN ARTISTS

“It’s Raining Salmon!”, which is very punny if you know music from the early 80s

Jennifer Angaiak Wood

Jennifer Angaiak Wood is an artist of Yup'ik, Irish, and Italian descent. She was born and raised in Fairbanks, AK, and spent summers in her dad's home village, Tununak, AK. The inspiration for her umbrella is the importance of clean, healthy water to maintain healthy populations of salmon and all of the sea and land creatures that rely on them, humans included.

Dylan's ’s piece is an homage to the red trains of Thomas and Friends.

Dylan Wood is a youth artist of Yup'ik and mixed-European descent. His interests include trains, rockets, and playing with his dog, Nugget. The inspiration for his umbrella design is the custom-designed trains for Thomas and Friends - he designed his own custom umbrella for the red characters in the show. *Psst - it kind of looks like a fruit rollup!*

Cassidy's design represents the four seasons.

I've lived here in Bremerton my whole life, absorbing the visual beauty of the pacific northwest. The local marine ecosystem is one of my favorite subjects and I'm particularly fond of painting cormorants. I hope to illustrate books professionally one day and am currently working on a map for my grandma's autobiography.

I am a ceramic artist and aromatherapist who loves to branch out to other facets of creativity, like small scale block and cyanotype printing, origami, beading, and needle felting. I also love sharing the beauty I find around me through photography. You can see photos of these creative explorations on Instagram at @earthandaether and @jenniferlombardak.

I choose to work in watercolor because of the element of surprise. The artist must be willing to let go of control, taking a back seat to the movement and caprice of paint in water. The painting reveals itself.

I am more of a seamstress than an artist, having done costumes for local theaters and opera.  I also use creativity in flor designs for Garden Club flower shows.

I love a challenge!  It was fun to decorate a parasol and be part of the gallery and Bremerton Art Walk.
